How do recently deleted candidates work?
When a candidate is deleted, they are not removed permanently right away.
Instead, they are moved to the Recently Deleted section, where they can be reviewed and restored if needed.
Viewing Recently Deleted Candidates
To view deleted candidates:
- Navigate to the Candidates page.
- Open the Recently Deleted tab.
This tab displays candidates that have been deleted but have not yet been permanently removed from the system.
Restoring a Candidate
If a candidate was deleted by mistake, you can restore them.
- Open the Recently Deleted tab.
- Locate the candidate.
- Click Restore.
The candidate will be returned to the Active candidates list along with their profile information, documents, applications, and activity history.
Permanent Deletion
Candidates remain in the Recently Deleted tab for 30 days.
After 30 days, the candidate and all associated data are permanently removed from Sterndesk and can no longer be restored.
What Happens When a Candidate Is Deleted?
Deleting a candidate removes them from the Active candidates list and moves them to the Recently Deleted tab.
During the retention period:
- Candidate profiles remain recoverable.
- Documents remain recoverable.
- Applications remain recoverable.
- Activity history remains recoverable.
No information is permanently deleted until the retention period expires.
Best Practice
Before permanently deleting candidates, consider whether they may be useful for future vacancies.
In many cases, tagging or archiving candidates is a better option than deleting them completely.
